We focus on realistic, proportionate shapes for a beautiful avatar by using the same guidelines for proportion taught to fine art students studying the human form.

I’m so pleased to announce Mayfly’s release of the new Deep Sky Mesh Eyes. They’re available in all the same beautiful colors as the regular Deep Sky Eyes (as of now, that’s 66 colors), but have some wonderful features that regular eyes just can’t have.

So, why bother with mesh eyes you ask?

First, they allow you to easily give yourself odd-eye (two differently colored eyes).

You may be saying, “We can already do that with regular prim eyes.”, and you can, but the mesh prim is a replica of the mesh eyeball already in your avatar’s head. That means the eye texture wraps onto the mesh prim just like your avatar’s eye, and is going to look exactly like your regular eyes. It’s a prim eye maker’s dream to work with.

Be as creative and individual as you want with over 4200 possible combinations of odd-eye:

Aside from the beautiful Deep Sky Eye textures and the whole odd-eye thing, the real advantage of Mayfly’s mesh eyes is the custom sizing script, which is programmed with 28 preset sizes that automatically adjust the eye position as you choose new sizes. No fussing with the edit menu at all! Just wear the eye, click it, and pick your size from the menu. So simple.

If simple sizing isn’t enough, the custom script gives you a good, usable range of iris size choices! It actually has two sizing options: pick iris sizes that are either proportioned like your regular eyes and larger, or sizes that are smaller than your usual Deep Sky Eye irises.

Most avatars will have about ten usable iris size choices.

Lastly, as a nice bonus, because the eye textures are applied to a prim, they appear a little sharper than the slightly softened look of a regular avatar eye.

I’ve been working on a new line of eyes using the original realistic eyes as a base; what I’ve come up with are some very pretty peepers that have stronger reflections and shading. I think you’ll really like them.
